The Act amends Section 6 of RA 11899. EDCOM II accomplishes its original mandate within three years of organizing. On completing that, it continues to operate for an additional two years to conduct further research and consultations and, importantly, to exercise oversight over implementation of the National Education and Workforce Development Plans. During the extension it works closely with DepEd, CHED, DSWD, DOH, and TESDA alongside the relevant Senate and House committees.
It is not only a term extension
The Act also amends Section 3 to add new objectives. EDCOM II must provide strategic direction on aligning curricula, pedagogies, and assessment systems with globally recognized benchmarks using measurable learning outcomes; develop long-term solutions for school infrastructure, learning resources, and teacher qualification and professional development; and update the national agenda and roadmap to integrate artificial intelligence, digital and green technologies, and other emerging innovations to future-proof the education system.
